Sleep Regression Over or Just an Anomaly?
End of Sleep Regression?
We had a wonderful mini-vacation this past weekend. I went with the flow and watched for sleepy ques for when to put him down for naps when not traveling. Otherwise he had many sleep times in the car. I wasn’t sure how night sleep would go since we’d be sleeping in the same room again, but we all made it through. In fact, he slept longer than ever! The start of bedtime is still being adjusted but he’s for sure asleep for the night by 1-2am. It’s amazing! I’ve gotten so much more sleep.. Not sure the exact cause of this shift from the sleep regression but I’ve stuck with more outside time and 9pm bedtime as the consistent factors. He also got a lot of floor time and stimulation seeing my side of the family including his cousins that range from about 10.5mo to almost 5yrs old. I’m more assuming he’s just outgrowing the sleep regression.
He still wakes up 2 times, but that’s between 9pm-2am. So if I can get him eating more during the day I’ll see if that’s enough or if he still needs a couple feedings. I’m also hoping he’ll start going right back to sleep after eating. Last night was still a little wacko and he had his night started out in the car. We’ll see how tonight goes. It’ll be the first time his sleep will be entirely in his room since he started sleeping through the night again.
Sleep Training Progress
On another miracle note. He slept for an hour in his crib this morning (he feel asleep eating when I got him up this morning). I put him in there to see how long he’d sleep for. He’s also fallen asleep for two more naps in his chair without me rocking him. It’s a miracle! Maybe my plan is working. If I can get him to fall asleep without my help rocking him for a week I think that would be when I’ll start trying to use the crib. Seems like it’s true what they say… patience and consistency are the key.
