New Milestone
Growing Up!
My baby boy is getting so big now! New milestone: he’s sitting up all by himself. I think this was the cause behind the small sleep regression that seemed to dissipate Sunday night. I’ve been letting him practice as much as possible his sitting up skills for the past week and he’s finally doing it for minutes at a time. He still tips a bit if he’s going after a toy not in front of him, but he’s getting stronger.
Next Milestone: Solid Food
Now that he’s mastering sitting up and will be turning six months old on Sunday, he seems ready to start solid food. I’ve been reading a lot about when to know they’re ready to start, what method to do, and what foods to start with. Currently it seems he’s almost ready, just want to make sure he’s mastered sitting up unassisted, and that his tongue-thrust reflex has dissipated. I’m not 100% sure about that yet. We’ll likely start with avocado, and veggies like broccoli, carrots, and cauliflower. As for the method… I think we’re going to try baby-led-weaning (BLW). Also, weaning in this sense is the British meaning of the word (adding complementary foods). We’ll basically be starting him off with finger foods, skipping baby cereal and purees. It’ll be fun!
