He’s working real hard at learning consonant sounds and has mastered “ma”! It’s super cute. He’s done a variety of other consonants but not consistently yet. He’s reaching really far to grab what he sees if it’s in front or beside him. Just have to watch for tipping backwards! He does get bored fairly easily and I have to keep rotating toys about every 20min or so. It’s so fun to watch him explore… he’s learning to use his fingers to touch and poke the little details of things. He’s also quite good at lifting a toy up in each hand to bang together. Music is still a big hit and always makes him smile!
He had an awesome sleep last night! Was asleep in bed by about 9:30pm and slept all night until just before 8:30am! Didn’t wake me up once to eat… I think the earlier bedtime is helping him sleep longer… finally. Although this is the first time in many weeks he hasn’t woken up for a feeding at some point. Even the last few days he’s been waking up between 4-6am to eat and sometimes he’ll go back to sleep right away, sometimes not. Made for some early mornings… I’m thinking right now that a bedtime between 8:30-9:30pm is good. It works for his variable 3-4 naps in a day and still getting a good long sleep at night that he seems to be able to handle. If he gets more like 4 shorter naps, then he gets the later bedtime, or if it’s 3 longer naps, earlier. Such as today, this has been/will be his schedule:
Nap #1 9:35am (about 90min long)
Nap #2 1:40pm (about 90min long)
Nap #3 5:10pm (planning a 40-50min nap for him)
Bed 8:45pm (approx)
I’ll start the bedtime routine around 8pm and see how it goes. I have noticed for naps he gets fussier and has a harder time falling asleep if I try putting him to sleep too early (not waiting at least 1hr 45min under normal circumstances) and making sure he’s not hungry. If it’s too close to 2-2.5hrs since he last ate he won’t sleep easily at all.
