9 Month Growth Spurt and More Solids
Sleep Changes
It’s that time again! After making it through the past week of multiple wake-ups in the night… I’ve self-confirmed it was a growth spurt. It felt more like a month rather than just a week, especially this past weekend he woke up every 1.5-2.5hrs all night long… ugh that was exhausting. I’m letting him cry-it-out longer than in the past (which isn’t very long in reality… just for a mommy’s ears). I’m waiting a whole 10 minutes now before going into comfort/soothe him.
More Solids
I’m also working on giving him more solids an hour after nursing as well. That’s going to be my focus for the next 3 months: solids. I did a little research last night about the main nutrients to focus on for him as an older baby and came up with these:
Iron (& Vitamin C)
Zinc
Calcium
Potassium
Vitamin D
Fatty acids (DHA)
Vitamin E
Vitamin A
Magnesium
I’m currently researching good foods for a baby to eat that would fulfill these nutrient needs. My goal is to get him eating 3 meals and 2 snacks by the time he’s a year old. So for the next 3 months I’ll slowly increase how often/how much I’m offering him so that he’ll hopefully start eating more. I’m assuming if I can get him eating more solids he’ll eliminate his night feedings on his own. Someday soon maybe he’ll sleep all night long!
9 Months Old
Also big news… he’s 9 months old! He’s my cute big boy.
Height: 29.5″ (90%)
Weight: 22lb, 30z (87%)
We just moved his exersaucer up to the highest point and will be switching him to his convertible carseat this weekend. He’s quickly outgrowing his 12mo sized clothes (depends on the brand) and moving into the 18mo size!
